We want to say a massive thank you to the Veterans Foundation for their generous donation of £30,000!
This grant will allow us to support even more veterans in their transition to civilian life through our Outdoor Therapy service.
Our Outdoor therapy service combines the full range of benefits that time spent in nature and the outdoors provides with professional therapy to improve mental health and wellbeing.
The service is delivered by our team of dedicated and qualified therapists in urban outdoor and green spaces such as parks, community gardens, woodlands, beaches or local hills. It can help people gain perspective and reflect on past or current life events that are troubling and can give new insights on feelings, relationships and experiences.
Individuals access greenspaces and experience the grounding benefits of nature, which clears a busy mind and brings feelings of calm and stability for people who regularly experience high levels of stress and chaos at home. In this way nature offers an opportunity for reflection. For many people, outdoor therapy may be more suitable than traditional therapeutic settings.
The Veterans Foundation is supporting us to support ex-service personal and change lives for the better, as they do with many other amazing charities.
The Veteran’s Foundation was set up to help fund charities and other charitable organisations that are helping serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their dependents. Many charities have significant financial constraints and the Veterans’ Foundation exists to champion their causes and to help them effect their objectives.
The Foundation does this by funding projects and working with their partners to broadcast charities initiatives, helping to raise awareness of the challenges facing our armed forces community.
“The Veterans’ Foundation raises its money through the Veterans’ Lottery and donations. Since inception in July 2016, it has given over £11 million through over 600 grants to over 300 unique organisations, many of them small to medium-sized and very worthwhile charities, which are helping members of the Armed Forces community who are in need. Forecasts indicate the Veterans’ Foundation will make grants totaling £4.4 million this financial year. The charities and other organisations they have helped include those tackling the challenges of mental and physical injuries, homelessness, unemployment, children’s loss of parents while serving and remembrance. We encourage you to spread the word about their work!
